Við viljum byrja á að þakka ykkur fyrir hversu vel það hefur verið flokkað hér á okkar svæði, en gegnum árin hefur það verið til fyrirmyndar.

Eins og kannski flest ykkar hafið heyrt, tóku ný lög um úrgangsmál gildi nú 1. janúar sl. og fyrir árslok 2023 þarf að skipta upp flokkun við heimili í fjóra flokka, þ.e pappa og pappír, umbúðaplast, lífrænan úrgang og almennt heimilissorp. Til að mæta þessu nýja lagaumhverfi er lagt upp með að fjölga tunnum fyrir hvert heimili en að auki verði hægt að fara með umbúðarmálma, textíl og gler á grenndarstöðvar.

Í mörgum sveitarfélögum er lagt upp með að setja fjórar tunnur við hvert heimili en starfsmenn og stjórn Sorpsamlagsins ásamt sveitarstjórnum eru að skoða ýmsa möguleika á útfærslum. Stefnan er á að halda íbúafund þegar við erum komin með leiðir til þess að fara eftir og vænlegar útfærslur.
Breytingarnar koma til með að verða töluverðar á allri þjónustu og flokkun. Nú þegar höfum gert breytingar á móttökustöð á Skeiði og erum komin með tvo nýja flokkunargáma fyrir plast annars vegar og hins vegar fyrir bylgjupappa, sléttan pappa, pappír og fernur. Biðjum við ykkur að setja plast og pappa nú í þessa gáma í staðin fyrir lúgurnar.

Dear Citizens of Strandabyggð, Kaldrananeshreppur and Árneshreppur

We want to start by thanking you for all your effort and good work regarding classifying waist in our area, which has been very satisfactory throughout the years. Well done!

As most of you may have heard, a new regulation on handling of waste came into force on January 1st. and by the end of 2023 household sorting must be divided into four categories, i.e. cardboard and paper, plastic, organic waste and general household waste. To meet this new legal environment, it is proposed to increase the number of bins at each household up to four bins. As before, it will be possible to take packaging metals, textiles and glass to the local service stations, in each municipality.

It is proposed to place four bins at each home, as mentioned before, but the Board of the Sorpsamlag is looking at various other possibilities, when it comes to the implementation of the new legal framework. There will be a town meeting within not too long, when we have come up with suitable solutions to this part of the implementation.

This new legal framework calls for some infrastructure changes at the service stations. These changes are going to be significant across all services and categories. We have already made changes at the reception unit at Skeiði, Hólmavík, where we now have two new sorting containers for plastic on the one hand and corrugated cardboard, smooth cardboard, paper and ferns on the other. The main change here is that in stead of three classes for plastic and three for paper, there is only one for each now. Please put plastic and cardboard in these containers instead of the hatches, as before.

As it stands today, other categories are unchanged, but we will slowly change this structure as well. Information about changes will be published in the Sorpsamlag's area on Strandabyggðar's website:
